PREVIEW
Chelsea will head to Villa Park in high spirits having given themselves a commanding advantage over Benfica following their 1-0 Champions League win in Portugal. It was an important result as Roberto Di Matteo suffered a couple of set-backs at Man City and then to Tottenham on the domestic front.

Chelsea are in fifth, level on points with Newcastle and three points would really put the pressure on Alan Pardew’s side – who play Sunday. The Blues struggled to create anything of note when last at Stamford Bridge as Spurs came away with a point. Chelsea were much improved in the week and the clean sheet was the second on the bounce for Di Matteo. Over the years Villa Park has developed a reputation as one of the toughest grounds to play at, but that just hasn’t been the case this season.

Alex McLeish has had a torrid campaign and they are looking over their shoulders at clubs like Blackburn. Villa have never really recovered from losing Darren Bent to injury and that has coincided with a terrible scoring run. In six league games Villa have only scored three times and they failed to hit the target at the Emirates last weekend.

Over the past few seasons Villa have caused plenty of problems for Chelsea and they won the reverse fixture 3-1 at the end of December. However, Villa are on dire form and my advice would be to back the away win at around 1.86 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Chelsea at around 1.86: 6 points

Friday’s Return: -7.00 points
MARCH RETURN TO DATE: +3.47
