PREVIEW
Liverpool and Newcastle fixtures rarely disappoint and the earlier meeting between the clubs certainly lived up to the billing. A Steven Gerrard inspired comeback helped the Reds to all three points at Anfield, but they have really struggled over the past few weeks.
Kenny Dalglish’s side have been beaten four times in five Premier League matches and two of those have been against clubs in the bottom three. The Reds are going strong in the cup competitions still, but even a top six finish looks unlikely next season. Liverpool were unable to defend a 2-0 lead in their last away game and they can expect a difficult afternoon against one of the best strike partnerships in the league.
Newcastle are flying and a Champions League finish is mathematically within reach. Alan Pardew has been quick to keep Geordie fans’ feet on the ground. For 45 minutes against West Brom the Magpies were unplayable as they raced to a 3-0 lead. Papiss Demba Cisse bragged a brace that afternoon to take his total to five since he arrived in England and he’s formed a potent partnership with Demba Ba.
Liverpool have looked all over the place at the back the past few games and if QPR can score three times against them, then they could be in for an uncomfortable 90 minutes. At around 3.1 on BETDAQ, Newcastle are a good price to increase the pressure on Kenny Dalglish.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Newcastle at around 3.4: 4 points
Saturday’s Return: +5.16 points
MARCH RETURN TO DATE: +8.63
