7-1 DERBY WINNER AND 15-1 DOUBLE UP: Shamrock was right to go for the Ballydoyle second string – Daddy Long Legs (WON 7-1) – in the UAE Derby in Dubai last night, and Slieveardagh (WON evens at Navan) completed a 15-1 double in his yankee.

Michael Hourigan can walk to the races. But he may need transport back to his yard, which is almost adjacent to Limerick racecourse. It may be needed to carry the euros.

Hourigan, who farms his local meeting, has two favourites and one other close up in the betting on today’s card, which will be run on ‘spiked and watered’ ground.

Crash (4.50) should bounce back to form on that and repeat last year’s stable success for the Gigginstown owners in the novice chase.

The obvious danger is Frisco Depot on his second to Flemenstar at Naas but he had a hard race that day, not for the first time this year, and may be found out by the sound surface.

Ballysteen (3.40), another for Gigginstown, also seemed on the way back and set up for this meeting when third at Naas three weeks ago. The Noel Meade improver Protaras is the threat this time.

Ruby Walsh takes the Hourigan ride on False Economy in the conditions hurdle (3.05) but the ground favours Gudnis Gracious Me and provides the chance of a return to form by Clarach.

Clarach finished in front of False Economy twice last summer yet now gets a pull in the weights. The uncertainty is the stable form: his yard hasn’t had a winner for 50 days.

On the other hand, Gudnis Gracious Me’s yard had a well-backed winner at Cork recently and the mare chased home the very smart Dirar at Down Royal a week ago.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Crash (4.50 Limerick)
NEXT BEST: Gudnis Gracious Me (3.05 Limerick)
DAQ MULTIPLES: Gudnis Gracious Me (3.05 Limerick), Ballysteen (3.40 Limerick), Crash (4.50 Limerick)
